The World Maritime Day theme for the year is “Empowering Women in the Maritime Community”.
This provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of gender equality, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, and to highlight the important – yet under-utilized – contribution of women within the maritime sector.

Second National Forum of Crewing Companies of Ukraine
On the middle of February 2019, the Second National Forum of Crewing Companies of Ukraine took place. The Forum was organized under close cooperation with the Nautical Institute of Ukraine and Chamber of Shipping of Ukraine. Every Year the International Maritime Organization (IMO) celebrates World Maritime Day. The exact date is left to individual governments but is usually celebrated during the last week in September. The day is used to focus attention on the importance of shipping safety, maritime security and the marine environment and to emphasize a particular aspect of IMO’s work.
