In the June 2025 issue of Seaways, the Nautical Institute highlighted a vibrant and insightful event held by the India South West (Kochi) Branch — an interactive Youth Forum session aimed at young maritime professionals.

The event brought together cadets and senior officers for open discussion about working at sea, including:

• Life on LNG-powered ships

• The everyday challenges faced by third officers

• Career pathways and development

• A dedicated session for female cadets on overcoming industry obstacles

• And even a relaxed networking segment over dinner and entertainment

As one participant shared:

“It was an incredible experience that left a lasting impact on me.”

Such initiatives strengthen the bridge between maritime students and seasoned professionals. They also foster mentorship, practical insight, and stronger community values among seafarers at all stages of their careers.
