Maritime safety and legal awareness are critical aspects of professional development for seafarers. To address these needs, Learnmarine in cooperation with the Nautical Institute (Ukraine Branch) provided e-learning courses on “Behavioral-Based Safety” and “Seafarers’ Rights,” to cadets of the National University ‘Odessa Maritime Academy’.
These courses are designed with a user-friendly format that incorporates concise presentations, informative diagrams, and engaging video materials. At the end of each course, participants take a knowledge assessment test, which can be retaken if necessary, allowing learners to reinforce their understanding.
Cadets who have completed the courses shared their insights:
Vladislav: “Having completed the courses from Learnmarine on Behavioral-Based Safety and Seafarers’ Rights, I found the format very convenient. The presentations contain a small amount of text on each slide, supplemented by diagrams and videos. The end-of-course test allows you to assess your knowledge and, if needed, retake it to fill in any gaps. This flexibility makes the learning process very effective.”
Bogdan: “The courses ‘Behavioral Safety on Board’ and ‘Seafarers’ Rights’ left a very positive impression due to their relevance, content, and practical approach. The ‘Behavioral Safety on Board’ course provides valuable knowledge on developing a safety culture through real-life examples, helping crew members prevent incidents and foster teamwork. The ‘Seafarers’ Rights’ course offers crucial insights into legal protections, international labor laws, and conflict resolution, making it an essential resource for maritime professionals. I highly recommend both courses to anyone in the industry looking to enhance their knowledge in safety and legal matters.”
Dmitriy: “The ‘Seafarers’ Rights’ course provided in-depth knowledge on legal protections, employment contracts, and onboard safety guarantees, making it a valuable tool for understanding maritime law. The ‘Behavior-Based Safety’ course emphasized the role of human behavior in maintaining safety, covering psychological factors, feedback mechanisms, and risk minimization techniques. The interactive elements and real-world examples made learning engaging and practical. The only issue I encountered was occasional progress-tracking errors, but this was a minor inconvenience.”
By integrating interactive content and real-world applications, Learnmarine’s courses equip seafarers with essential skills and knowledge to navigate both safety and legal challenges in their profession. These self-paced modules ensure that maritime professionals can learn at their own convenience, fostering continuous improvement in industry standards.
