Welcome to the 28th International Maritime Lecturers Association Conference
Dear Friends!
Due to the current situation in Ukraine, a decision has been made by the International Maritime Lecturers Association Committee (IMLA Committee) to announce the postponement of the 28th International Maritime Lecturers Association Conference (IMLA 28), scheduled to take place in September 2022 at the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”.
The IMLA Committee, in consultation with the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”, has decided to postpone the conference to year 2023 while keeping the place in Odessa. Information including a new date for the Conference, as well as a new deadline for papers, will be made in due course to allow participants to make appropriate arrangements.
Thank you for your continued support to IMLA events. We look forward to meeting you next year in IMLA 28 at the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”!

The International Maritime Lecturers Association Conference constitutes a place where different groups involved in maritime training meet: the simulator users, the simulator developers, the researchers, the classification societies and the maritime authorities from all over the world. It is an interactive global event that promotes an exchange of knowledge, experience, views, research results and the identification of common problems with respect to maritime education and training among participants from different countries representing their respective agencies and institutions.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA), it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 28th IMLA Conference (IMLA28) which will be hosted by the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” (NU“OMA”), a leading institution in the world maritime community. The conference is scheduled to be held on 20-22 September, 2022, in Odessa, Ukraine.
Since 1980, the IMLA conference has been the main event of IMLA and a central platform to share the latest achievements and experiences in Maritime Education and Training (MET), promoting contact and cooperation between Maritime Lecturers of all disciplines from different parts of the world.
With the theme of “MET MARITIME HERITAGE: Traditions and Perspectives”, the IMLA28 will provide unique fora to connect the heritage of maritime education with the contemporary opportunities and future trends in a critical time of changes and challenges. Thus I encourage colleagues from the maritime institutions and beyond, to share and exchange your best practices, novel experiences and brilliant academic and research outcomes at the conference.

Dear participants and guests of the 28th International Maritime Lecturers’ Association Conference (IMLA28)!
We would like to welcome you in our beautiful city of Odessa, in the maritime capital of Ukraine. Ukraine is one of the world leaders in the training of officers of the merchant marine, and it is a great honour for the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” to host the IMLA28.
The Conference gives the opportunity to the representatives of maritime community to meet again physically the experts, lecturers and instructors of maritime educational institutions. It is a great opportunity for all the participants to discuss topical issues of MET in the face of new challenges.
