This Conference dedicates to the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the International Convention MARPOL.
The International Maritime Organization has chosen for this year 2023 the slogan “50 years of MARPOL: our commitment continues”. This slogan aims to highlight the history of the IMO associated with the work developed for the protection of the environment from the effects of maritime transport together with the commitment to the implementation of a solid regulatory framework. The slogan based on the MARPOL Convention, the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Marine Environment from Ships, whether operational or accidental, is the most important international instrument on this subject.
Moreover, the adoption of the IMO’s Initial Strategy on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Reduction in 2018 has set the policy framework for the development and adoption of new measures within the MARPOL Convention to increase the energy efficiency of ships.
The general theme of NST-23 conference is marine pollution and greenhouse gases. Our conference focuses on various issues dealing with maritime education, technology, and shipping. It attracts everyone involved in marine business to share experience, ideas and to enhance the shipping process.
